Boswellia serrata, also known as Indian frankincense, is a plant native to India. Frankincense is found in India, Pakistan, Northeast Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. This plant has been used as an ingredient in frankincense for hundreds of years.

The active ingredients in the resin of frankincense are boswellic acids. In traditional Indian medicine, this plant is used to treat diseases of the joints, bones, spine, digestive tract, respiratory tract and allergies.
